About Us

     Both Big R stores in Burns, Oregon and Fallon, Nevada have roots that go back to 1953. That’s when Harney County Farm Supply was started by the McAllister family. The farm supply store was a traditional feed and basic supply store serving the ranch and farm community of eastern Oregon. By the early sixties the store was adding more hardware, plumbing, and pump supplies. Soon the store operated a farm implements division selling John Deere, Ford-New Holland, and Hesston equipment.
